Week #7
his week was far and above the best week of my mission so far!!! even if i have been out for only three weeks haha! lots of grinding and just good stuff
first good thing!! national family week was this week and that was super amazing to see all of the amazing and strong families here in the mission!! also our stake activity was flipping awesome! they had a singing idol and my companion was one of the hosts so that was super funny hahaha. and then we got to help with all the games and to see all the kids was so cute.
second good thing!! we are having a lot of success with one of our investigators named mark! we challenged him to read the book of Mormon and he read the first chapter and actually wrote a summary of what happened!! it was awesome! this week we challenged him to pray and read more so that should help him more! I'm excited to see how it goes!! and he also came to church which was huge!!!
third i got my first package from home!!! i was super stoked! that kinda helped me feel more at home for some reason here. maybe just because it was a little piece of home!!
also this week we had exchanges with the zone leaders and i was with elder Dickinson!! the man is a spiritual giant and i learned so much from him and it was a pleasure to work with him!!
one thing I've learned this week is that attitude can go a long way!! perspective plays a huge part of our attitude and lots of time seeing things a different way helps a ton with your attitude. so just trying to stay positive and look on the bright side is something that i have been trying to do a lot!!
the language is still a struggle but I'm just keeping my chin up and trying to have courage when talking to people!! which is not something i ever thought i would have to do!
also this week learning a lot about humility...it goes a long way! anyways i love you all!! keep sending prayers and please email me even if i don't have time to respond!

Elder Snow is doing great. We visited him in his apartment yesterday down in Agoo. Here is a picture of him standing in his circular staircase. He told us he has to go down just right or else he will get wedged in. The picture shows him in his “wedged in spot”. We also gave him your letter with his debit card in it. He was concerned that you will need to activate it for him. I told him we would pass the message on to you.
It is nice to have another Arizonan here in the mission. My husband and I raised our daughters on the other side of the valley in the Litchfield Park/Goodyear area. My husband retired from the nuclear plant out there and now we are in the Philippines with wonderful missionaries like your son. Thanks for raising a valiant servant of the Lord.

anyways this week has been a roller coaster. filled with so many amazing moments and some kinda scary ones.
and i know mom probably won't want to know about some of this so that's why I'm sending it to dad and a few others so they can edit a little bit hahahah
so first of all dogs aren't as sweet or happy as Ava and Murphy.
on Saturday night me and my companion were visiting an investigator named Lowell to see if he could come to church on Sunday. so we are walking through straight jungle for about a mile then we crossed this sketchy as crap canal. and we actually had a real amazing and sweet message with him that night in the rain (also it was poring at the time) but we get to his house and its like in the boonys. and like 5 mangy as crap dogs come running out. so luckily I had just taught my comp how to bend and pretend to pick up a rock to scare off dogs. but it only worked a few times. it was lucky that we had the prompting to pray right before we started on the long muddy road to his house because no doubt we were being watched over while we got to his house. just another show that god looks out for his missionaries.
but anyways Lowell didn't come to church because he had work. but we are very hopeful with him. he is such a good kid and I know he likes the gospel and feels good about it.
hmmm also to make myself less sketched out in the shower I've started to name the spiders lol it actually helps a lot...so pro tip.
another good story. on Sunday we found a new family. it is actually the uncle of someone in our ward and his kids (he and his wife are separated) and this is one of those houses that is wayyyyyy out in the booneys. We had to walk through like a mile of rice fields to get there in the rain. but hey #gottakeepthemcommitments anyways we just shared a pamphlet lesson but I'll tell you the love that you feel for people as a missionary is like none other. it hit me hard in that moment, we are so blessed to have this gospel in our lives and its such a gift and its such an amazing opportunity we have to share it with others even if we don't speak the same language, like at all. I love this gospel and seeing the way it effects people who don't have it is one of the greatest feelings ever. I love being a missionary.

Week 6 - First in the field

FIRST, the people of the Philippines are the most kind and fun and friendly people in the world. its so amazing and inspiring to see people with so little be willing to give you so much and love so much. i love them all...
there haven't been too many good stories this week!!! I love my companion also he is so amazing. his name is elder Dacayanan and he is from Las Vegas and is a straight guy. he has such a good companion and teaches me so much!!! i know that the Lord was looking out for me as always.
i have been assigned to the agoo zone and it is so so so so beautiful like the perfect mix of miles of rice fields and coast and mountains. its amazing.
anyways next week should be a lot better of an email because we didn't really do much this week!! i love you all and please pray for the success of the Baguio mission

Your missionary is assigned in the Agoo 1A Area in the Agoo Zone. The enclosed map will enable you to locate this area and follow each future transfer. We have also enclosed a photo taken at the Mission Home.
We urge you to write your missionary regularly each week. Include encouraging news of family events and achievements, spiritual experiences and other matters which will bring joy and deeper commitment. Omit mention of family problems or other matters which can only bring worry or concern.
May I point out that Missionaries serve with an eye single to the Glory of God. This means that their focus is entirely on the work of the ministry and they do this with great intensity. Please do not mention how much time they have remaining to serve nor special things you may have planned to do with them when they return home as it will only distract their attention from their service to the Lord
This is a wonderful country and your missionary is in for one of the greatest experiences of his life. With your support and encouragement he will mature and progress beyond your expectations. Week 5
Sept 5th
This week was a solid
week!!!! its our last pday in the mtc and man I’m
like so ready to be
out in the field! we leave for the field on Tuesday night of next week
and
I’m so stoked.
this week was hard!
staying motivated is so hard when you want to leave the mtc so dang
bad ahahha.
buts still the mtc is amazing and you are fed spiritually all the time. the
language
is coming better and the good times keep on rolling. this week was
pretty uneventful
though! we got to go on splits with some of the Tagalog
missionaries at the mtc and
teach their lessons with them and I’ll just say
this that the gift of tongues is super
real! I gave like a 45 min lesson in
like 80% Tagalog which was super a good experience.
one of the high points
of this week was we gave elder Darrington a hair cut!! he claimed
he looked
like a q-tip so we faded him up pretty good. it was so funny and he was so
scared but it turned out pretty solid! too bad we all have to go get
hair cuts today anyways.
any who i might
not get a chance to email next week because i will miss my p-day in
the field.
